Kampung Annah Rais

Kampung Annah Rais Homestay is located at Padawan District. It is approximately 65 km away from the Kuching City, Sarawak, Malaysia. The area is believed to be the oldest Bidayuh Longhouse which showcases the rich cultural heritage of Sarawak. Kampung Annah Rais is recommended for those tourists and visitors who wish to experience the traditional culture of the locals. The 80-door longhouse was built to prevent the enemies from attacking the area during the tribal wars before the arrival of the White Rajah’s program.

HOW TO GET THERE

Kuching City being the capital of Sarawak is linked with other major cities in Malaysia, as well as Singapore, Hong Kong and Brunei by air. Kuching International Airport has a number of daily flights connecting from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johore Bahru, Kota Kinabalu and so on via Air Asia, Jetstar, Tiger Airways and Malaysia Airlines. From the city of Kuching, it will take approximately of 1.5 hours to reach Kampung Annah Rais.
Since Annah Rais is a remote village there is no bus service or any other public transportation serving the route. The only available transportation is taxi. The local taxi will charge RM100 to RM120 for one way transfer from Kuching to Annah Rais longhouse.

Kampung Benak

Kampung Benuk is a Bidayuh Village located in the Penrissen area in Kuching City in Sarawak, Malaysia. This destination is the latest ecotourism site run by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia in the island of Borneo.
Homestay Kampung Benuk was established in 2006 and it is the nearest homestay for visitors or tourists who wish to experience life in a native longhouses. It will also give them the opportunity to experience exotic culture, warmth and friendly hospitality along with nature at its best. Kampung Benuk Homestay longhouse is one of the very few surviving Bidayuh Longhouse in Sarawak.
There are approximately 2,500 people living in the area. Some of them are living in the traditional longhouses while the rest live in typical modern Bidayuh Village house. Most of their activities are mainly traditional farming such as planting padi, pepper, rubber, cocoa, bananas and vegetables.

The Trans-Borneo Highway connects Kuching to all major cities in Sarawak, and carries on through to the neighboring state of Sabah through Brunei. The road system within the state has been upgraded and public transport system improved to cater to increasing traffic volume.
Most major towns and cities offer a variety of public transport services including buses, taxis and limousine services. Bus services are also available for those wishing to travel within the state from town to town, or even internationally to Indonesia (Pontianak) and Brunei.

Kampung Benuk is 34 km away from Kuching City. From Jalan Main Bazaar/Jalan Gambir, head west on Jalan Gambir toward Jalan Power. Continue on Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, towards on Jalan Datuk Tawi Ali. Make a slight left to merge onto Jalan Penrissen. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Jalan Kuching-Serian. Turn right to stay on Jalan Kota Padawan. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit and stay on Jalan Kota Padawan.
